Responsibilities

  • Plan clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and evaluation of BSN nursing students at assigned inpatient sites.
  • Create and post written clinical assignments aligned with each student’s knowledge base, skill competency, and individual learning needs.
  • Evaluate student performance against course objectives, deliver documented feedback, and support remediation as needed.
  • Orient to and maintain current knowledge of clinical site policies, procedures, and expectations in coordination with facility personnel.
  • Remain visible and available to students and staff at the clinical site while correcting and returning clinical paperwork and related assignments in a timely manner.
  • Implement the College’s philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and contribute to program assessment and campus retention efforts.

Faculty keep the course coordinator informed of student and agency issues and report to the dean or assistant dean with direct oversight from the course coordinator.

Qualifications & Requirements

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum requirements. Prior teaching experience is not required.

Graduate Degree
Master’s or doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university
RN License
Unencumbered professional RN nursing license in Illinois
BLS Certification
Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network
Recent Clinical Experience
At least two years of professional experience as a registered nurse within the last five years in the area of instruction
