Frequently Asked Questions

Is the specific facility already assigned?
No. The exact worksite—whether a Veterans Home, correctional healthcare facility, or state hospital—depends on the awarded contract and program requirements. Candidates should confirm the site before accepting an offer.
What does “contingent upon contract award” mean for start dates?
The position becomes available only after the employer is awarded the relevant healthcare contract. Start timing and assignment details can shift based on that award and subsequent staffing needs.
Are benefits available for PRN or 13-week assignments?
Full benefits packages, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and annual bonus, apply to eligible full-time positions. PRN and temporary 13-week candidates should confirm applicable terms directly with the employer.
Do I need prior experience in correctional or veterans’ settings?
Prior experience in those environments is helpful but not required. The mandatory experience is at least six months of recent direct patient care in any public or private institutional setting, plus eMAR/EMR familiarity.
Will I work independently or under RN supervision?
LVNs function within the California scope of practice and report clinical changes and findings to registered nurses or primary care providers. Interdisciplinary collaboration is expected.
Are weekend or holiday shifts required?
Specific weekend, holiday, or rotation requirements have not been detailed for the San Diego assignment. These details depend on the receiving facility and should be clarified during the offer process.
