Responsibilities

  • Examine adult patients, take histories, perform physical examinations, order laboratory and diagnostic tests, establish definitive diagnoses, and prescribe treatment.
  • Admit patients to the hospital when clinically indicated and follow full continuity of care, including return from consultants.
  • Provide preoperative and perioperative consultative recommendations to surgical specialties and serve on the Internal Medicine Consult Service.
  • Perform outpatient graded exercise tests and notify patients of abnormal findings.
  • Supervise and teach residents and interns while contributing to quality improvement activities of the Internal Medicine Training Program.
  • Participate in department or hospital board and committee meetings and maintain required specialty-specific continuing medical education.

The physician works under the administrative supervision of the Chief of Internal Medicine Service and exercises independent clinical judgment in patient management.
