Clinical Supervision in Juvenile Detention Behavioral Health

Providing clinical supervision to associate clinicians who serve justice-involved youth requires specialized professional judgment. In juvenile detention settings, supervisees routinely encounter trauma histories, behavioral dysregulation, substance-use concerns, and co-occurring conditions within environments that limit autonomy and demand close multidisciplinary collaboration. The Clinical Supervisor guides assessment, risk evaluation, ethical decision-making, and intervention selection while ensuring documentation meets California Board of Behavioral Sciences standards for supervised experience. This remote role allows experienced LCSWs to strengthen the clinical competence of developing practitioners and influence the quality of behavioral health care delivered to adolescents and young adults in secure facilities, without assuming direct patient-care responsibilities themselves.
