Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) – Oncology | Sacramento, CA

Psychosocial work in oncology differs from general outpatient social work because illness, treatment side effects, and uncertain prognosis shape nearly every conversation. Emotional distress, practical barriers, and changes in family roles can interfere with a patient’s ability to continue treatment or access available resources. An LCSW in supportive oncology evaluates these interconnected needs, provides structured therapeutic support, and helps patients and caregivers navigate community and public benefits. This clinical perspective complements the medical care delivered by the oncology team and becomes especially important as patients move through treatment, transitions in care setting, or survivorship. In a developing program, the same clinician who delivers therapy also helps define the assessment and referral processes that keep psychosocial support consistent as the service expands.
