Responsibilities

  • Deliver respiratory treatments and airway-clearance therapies, including VEST, across ordered modalities.
  • Manage invasive and non-invasive ventilatory support, including conventional, high-frequency, oscillatory, Bi-Level, and volume-based modes.
  • Perform arterial punctures, blood gas analysis with quality control, pulse oximetry studies, bedside spirometry, and EKG testing.
  • Respond to code blue events, rapid responses, trauma activations, and high-risk deliveries; assist with intubation and therapeutic bronchoscopy as needed.
  • Initiate and monitor nitric oxide and Heliox therapy; complete equipment rounds, cleaning, setup, and Meditech documentation.
  • Provide patient and family education and precept new staff or team members entering new clinical areas.

Qualifications & Requirements

Applicants must meet current Virginia licensure and NBRC credential standards along with the listed life-support certifications.

High school graduate and graduate of a CoARC-approved Registered Respiratory Therapy program
Licensure & Credential
Current Virginia Licensed Respiratory Therapist and active NBRC RRT credential
Required Certifications
Current BLS, NRP, and PALS
Preferred Experience
One year critical care and one year neonatal/pediatric critical care experience
Preferred Credentials
ACLS, NBRC Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty, STABLE (within first year), AARC membership

Compensation & Benefits
