Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to adult acute and progressive-care patients.
  • Assess changes in patient condition and respond with appropriate clinical interventions.
  • Administer medications safely and document care accurately.
  • Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, care partners, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Delegate and supervise tasks according to patient needs, staff roles, and nursing standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

Candidates are placed as Clinical Nurse I, II, or III according to experience and education. All levels require current Virginia RN licensure (or compact-state eligibility) and AHA BLS HCP certification or equivalent.

Education
Diploma or Associate Degree from a Board-approved professional nursing program. Nurses hired without a BSN or higher are expected to enroll in an approved RN-to-BSN program within two years and complete it within five years, subject to applicable VCU Health requirements.

Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible compact state

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation varies by clinical nurse level, experience, education, and qualifications.

  • Clinical Nurse I: $34.00 – $49.50 per hour
  • Clinical Nurse II: $34.65 – $51.97 per hour
  • Clinical Nurse III: $36.38 – $54.58 per hour
