Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison among physicians, patients, families, external healthcare providers, nursing homes, homecare agencies, employers, and insurance companies to support coordinated care.
  • Manage daily patient flow by escorting patients to exam or procedure rooms, assisting with walking, transferring, and dressing, collecting and processing specimens, and preparing patients for examination.
  • Support physicians during procedures, obtain vital signs, relay instructions to patients and families, and respond to clinical telephone inquiries with accurate information.
  • Handle clerical duties such as sending and receiving medical records, retrieving laboratory and imaging reports, completing forms and requisitions, and ensuring charts are complete in the electronic medical record or paper systems.
  • Enter orders into the electronic medical record and prepare prescription refill requests for physician review and approval; perform medical scribe functions when directed by the supervising physician.
  • Mentor and train Level I Medical Assistants, assist with establishing staff schedules according to patient volume, inventory and restock supplies, maintain required clinical logs, and perform phlebotomy when assigned.

Compensation & Benefits
