Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms, obtain vital signs, record medical history and symptoms, and ensure charts and lab results are complete before physician encounters.
  • Conduct telephone triage, deliver patient education, handle physician and pharmacy calls, and arrange appointments, hospital tests, or admissions when directed.
  • Administer immunizations and minor treatments as prescribed and document all activities in the medical record.
  • Assist physicians with procedures, clean and stock examination rooms, prepare instruments, and track needed medical supplies.
  • Complete paperwork such as lab and imaging orders and school or work notes, report test results to patients as directed by the physician, and serve as liaison for patient questions and concerns.
  • Perform OSHA controls, assist with narcotic counts, sterilize equipment, restock medication cabinets, and carry out other duties related to departmental objectives.

The nurse applies current nursing practices while serving as the initial contact for patient-related issues and functioning as a patient advocate within the care team.

Compensation & Benefits

Actual base pay is set according to skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives.
