Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments and suitability evaluations for patients attending the multidisciplinary clinics.
  • Deliver brief supportive counseling and crisis intervention to assist patients and families as health status changes.
  • Complete disability documentation, workers’ compensation forms, Medicaid waiver applications, and related program paperwork.
  • Identify and report suspected abuse or neglect and connect families with appropriate state agencies.
  • Facilitate referrals to community resources, support groups, and agencies that serve individuals with ALS and other neuromuscular disorders.
  • Collaborate with neurologists, therapists, nurses, and other specialists during weekly multidisciplinary clinic sessions.

The position combines direct clinical support with practical care coordination and advocacy inside an academic health system.

Qualifications & Requirements

Candidates must hold the required educational and licensing credentials along with relevant clinical experience.

Education
Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited program
License
Valid LCSW license in the State of Florida (active and in good standing)
Experience
Minimum 1 year of relevant clinical social work experience, preferably in healthcare or chronic illness settings
Knowledge Areas
Community resources, disability processes, and HIPAA compliance

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary is set within the stated range according to experience. Benefits follow the University of Miami package.
