Responsibilities

  • Assist participants and/or supervise activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, hair care, mouth care, eating, hand and foot nail care, and toileting as assigned or needed.
  • Create and participate in group and one-on-one activities according to the daily activity calendar and as requested by the Recreational Coordinator.
  • Monitor and assist participants with meals at the feeding table; maintain clean and orderly day rooms, kitchen, and personal care areas throughout the day.
  • Accompany participants to medical and other appointments; perform or assist with laundry; assist Drivers with loading and unloading participants from vehicles.
  • Note changes in participants’ physical or emotional health and communicate the information to the appropriate staff person; maintain medical records and fulfill charting and reporting requirements.
  • Participate in Interdisciplinary Team activities as needed and carry out the plan of care as directed; assist the Transportation Department with participants’ take-home supplies; support Quality Improvement initiatives.

Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, the Day Center Worker provides and assists with activities of daily living, restorative and supportive care, and helps organize the recreational program while monitoring health status and maintaining a safe environment.

Experience
Successful completion of nurse’s aide, home health aide, or equivalent training course, or a minimum of one year of related experience in caring for impaired adults

Medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before direct participant contact
Driver’s License
Valid North Carolina driver’s license, proof of insurance, and means of transportation
Additional Skills
Ability to establish effective working relationships, basic knowledge of working with frail and elderly to support ADLs, clear communication, independent work with minimum supervision, and computer use for timekeeping, in-servicing, and documentation
