Responsibilities

  • Assess and screen patients’ daily living and work-related skills, then develop therapeutic retraining programs that include measurable objectives.
  • Administer and interpret diagnostic and prognostic tests of function in the home or other settings to assist the physician in evaluating the patient’s functional level.
  • Deliver therapeutic treatment and instruction in accordance with physician orders to improve or restore strength, coordination, range of motion, and function, or to teach compensation measures.
  • Document patient care observations, interventions, and evaluations on the day services are rendered; accurately record and implement interim verbal physician orders.
  • Supervise, instruct, and evaluate Occupational Therapy Assistants and Home Health Aides in the delivery of occupational therapy services.
  • Participate in care coordination and discharge planning, recommend or design adaptive equipment, and contribute to team and family educational meetings.

Progress is reported to the physician, rehabilitation staff, Clinical Manager, patient, and family. Community reintegration activities may also be designed to support physical reconditioning and psychological adjustment.

Compensation & Benefits
