Responsibilities

  • Provide childbirth preparation and related prenatal education to expectant couples in a classroom setting using the Great Expectations or Great Expectations Refresher curriculum.
  • Identify learning needs of the group and provide individualized instruction based on those needs.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of teaching interventions and adjust teaching accordingly.
  • Work with the department leadership team to review and update class curriculum to reflect changing clinical practice recommendations.
  • Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating women’s health programs for the community in collaboration with department colleagues and Northwestern Memorial Hospital staff.
  • Complete special projects as identified or assigned.

Education may also be conducted in one-to-one less formal interactions.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum requirements include Illinois RN licensure, a BSN, education specialty certification, and specified teaching and clinical experience.
