Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care and perform all technical aspects of dialysis procedures for assigned patients as prescribed.
  • Administer and monitor dialysis treatments according to the current treatment plan or supervisor direction; document treatment parameters on dialysis flow sheets and other patient care information.
  • Perform and document pre-, interim, and post-treatment reviews of patient condition; report significant changes, incidents, or equipment problems to the supervisor.
  • Administer intravenous medications in accordance with physician orders and state nurse practice laws; initiate basic CPR measures and respond to dialysis-related emergencies.
  • Assist in developing and following teaching plans to educate patients and families on end-stage renal disease, dialysis therapy, diet, and medications; support emergency operational procedures.
  • Safely operate dialysis equipment, provide minor troubleshooting, maintain a clean and sanitary treatment environment, and address blood spills per bloodborne pathogen policies.

The LPN functions as part of the hemodialysis care team under direct registered nurse supervision and participates in short- and long-term care plan meetings while coordinating with physicians, dietitians, and social workers.

Qualifications & Requirements

Candidates must hold current Georgia LPN or LVN licensure and complete required hemodialysis training after hire. Prior dialysis experience is preferred but not mandatory.
